Roy Fish said, “We do not need impressions when we have commissions.” We need not wait until we feel an emotional tug before we go and help someone or tell them about the King who saved our souls. Sitting here thinking about Illuminate Austin, I am looking forward to what God will do through us as we partner with other believers in east Austin and shine the light of Jesus to those in need. I hope you plan to come and help out in some way, whether prayer walking, picking up trash, helping serve food, etc. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men (Colossians 3:23). I turned 46 on Monday, August 16 and I want to say a big ‘thank you’ for the kind notes and cards and the food — oh my, what good sweets and treats they were! Now the gym calls me to work off the extra pounds! I am so blessed to be here and serve as pastor of GHBC. My passionate goal is to lead us to become a radiant bride of Christ in Austin that reaches this city and touches the world with the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At times I feel overwhelmed at the amount of work that needs to be done in our church to become a radiant church. But to stay overwhelmed is a sin, as God tells us we must not be anxious about anything, even good things, but to pray to Him about everything (Philippians 4:6). Please continue to pray for me as I analyze and evaluate all our programs, finances, debt, personnel, and ministries. Changes will be made, but only after careful examination and much prayer. Please pray and ask God to move in power this Sunday as Terry leads us in worship and as I preach Sunday morning from Luke 19 the story of Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus and then on Sunday evening as we study how Jesus discipled the twelve apostles that He chose to pour His life into. God is moving in our midst and He is sending new people to us every Sunday and that is very exciting. For example, last Sunday during the 11:00 service as people joined the church and some were saved, one teen came to the front and said, “I want to give my life to Christ.” I spoke to her and led her to a decision counselor. Her sister ran behind us and said, “And I want to rededicate my life to God.” Amen! Thank You Lord for moving in our church! I love you, my church family, and am praying for you everyday for God to bless your walk with Him, your marriages, families, your finances — each day I pray for God to bless you. See you Saturday and Sunday!
