How to Become a Part of the Great Hills Family

Great Hills Baptist Church is a body of believers united by our desire to follow Jesus Christ and committed to fulfilling the purposes set forth in our Mission Statement.  If you desire to join with us and will be supportive of the beliefs, fellowship, and mission of our church, we warmly invite you to become a member.  There are three steps to become a member of Great Hills Baptist Church.

1.  Present yourself for membership during the worship service invitation  

At the close of each Worship Service, our Pastor will extend an invitation for you to come forward.  You will be greeted by a minister and introduced to a friend who will guide you in your decision.


2.  Express your desire for membership through one of the following ways:

 

  •   By Profession of Faith

If you will receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and follow Him in baptism by immersion, we will welcome you into our fellowship.

 

  •   By Transfer of Membership from Another Baptist Church  

As a Baptist whose membership is elsewhere, should God direct you here we will be pleased to welcome you into our church family.  We will take care of the appropriate details for the transferring of your membership.  You need only to present yourself for membership.

 

  •   By Statement of Faith

If you know in your heart that you have a saving relationship with God through Jesus Christ and desire to be a member of Great Hills Baptist Church, we will be happy to receive you.  If you were once a member of a Baptist church or your records are not available, we will accept you upon your statement of these conditions.  If your church membership is currently in another denomination and you have not been baptized by immersion as a testimony of your salvation, we would expect you to be baptized in obedience to Christ before being added to our church family.  After presenting yourself during the invitation, the minister or counselor will answer any questions you may have about this.

 

3.  Attend helpful classes

After joining, if you have made a decision for Christ, we would encourage you to attend a New Christian's Class.  If you are already a Christian, we encourage you to attend the NextStep Orientation Class.  This is a special orientation class for all new members and prospective members which will give you essential information to help you become a fulfilled, functioning member of our church.  This class will show you how to begin building relationships in the church and will help you understand all the benefits and responsibilities of membership.
